The year that was... (2015)

2015 has been an [insert expletive] roller-coaster of a year.

exciting yet terrifying. emotionally difficult. much confused crying... and dancing.

just as writing makes me feel less alone, dancing makes me forget.

all i feel is the music and my body. everything else fades away. until it's just... me.

wrists flicking. hips swaying. i pirouette. free.
.....

I've been on the run since the start of the year. New home. New job. HARDCOPY.

Emerging from my manuscript daze to find the walls closing in.

(Feeling furious was less painful than being sad.)

I'm so lucky to have such wonderful friends and colleagues in Canberra. I wouldn't have survived this year without them. Special shout-out to Loretta, Jann, Ginger and Amanda xo

(And of course, my family xoxoxo Mum, I know you're reading this. I love you and I'll never be able to thank you enough but my friends support me in ways you can't... not anymore.)

The clouds lifted. Newcastle. Noted. BMA.

Readers and editors were telling me that they liked my writing.

I hope 2016 is 'calmer' but I'll be busy producing Noted and planning a holiday in May (Eurovision, yep). Oh, and turning 25. At the very least, I hope it's less turbulent than this year.

2015. the year I identified as a writer. hit rock-bottom. and survived.

.....

What I learnt about writing in 2015 for ACTWC. 'Writerly wisdom', who would have thought!
